Symposium and Launch Session
– New cross-border network and cultural catalyzer
Please accept the invitation to the international symposium dealing with cultural exchange, networking in the field of culture and the cultural impact on the local environment. The symposium is one highlight of the cross-border project of the cultural initiatives GEH8 (Dresden, Germany) and Public Hall Hraničář (Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic).
The newly developed, cross-border network connects professional artists and cultural managers in the Bohemian-Saxonian border region in order to promote the positioning of independent art and culture in the regional development. The network is designed as communication platform offering all members a professional environment, consulting, training, exchange of experience and the opportunity to implement own projects.
The symposium will be held in Czech and German language with interpreters. The symposium is open for public. Admission is free of charge.

Creativity has an unique value which is measurable
The forum for cooperation in the field of culture is the Czech-German initiative between GEH8 Kunstraum und Ateliers e.V. and Veřejný sál Hraničář, association. We associate the professionals of independent art and cultural organisations in the north-west Bohemia and Saxony. Our goal is to create a long-term forum (cultural network) that we would both interact with and encourage each other.
The forum is kicked-off with the following steps
(1) Research – visits in the region
spring — summer 2018
The first project phase serves us to get to know each other and to explore the region. That’s why we undertake the adventure mapping the arts and culture scene on-site and go for research trips. We visit spots and venues, encounter and talk with its makers and actors behind the scenes.
(2) Sharing and learning – workshops
autumn 2018 – winter 2019
The second project phase serves us to learn from each other and to exchange on our experiences, expertises and future visions. That’s why we run two workshop series hold in Northern Bohemia and Saxony.
(3) Cooperation – public symposium
The final stage of the project will be a public symposium, with a part hold in Dresden and Ústí nad Labem. We design a series of events such as panels, artistic interventions and performances in order to bring our publics, communities and societies closely together. We address perspectives to develop a long-term network cluster and kick off specific follow-up projects.
The is funded by the means of the European Union and by the Czech-German Future Fund.
